Blue Beta Tours chose the Côte d'Azur because of it's ideal combination of location, weather, and sightseeing opportunities. Based around the Alpes-Maritimes Department of France, climbers are treated to bands of limestone cliffs that seem to rise directly off the coast of the Mediterranean. This mix of mountains and sea, coupled with the culture and cuisine, makes this part of southern France an irresistible destination for sport climbers.

The French Riviera has a Mediterranean climate, with sunny, hot, dry summers and mild winters.  The Côte d'Azur averages 63 rainy days per year and 2,668 hours of sunshine. We run our trips in the fall and spring for a number of reasons, the first being that the weather is perfect for climbing outside. While there is a chance of the occasional rainy day, the temperature has cooled off enough from the unbearable summer months to make the south-facing crags climable. As well, because most of Europe is on vacation during July through mid-September, our trips aim to allow you to avoid the crowds, both on the rock, and in the streets and restaurants.
